Pompeii – A Journey to the Past

The ancient town of Pompeii found neighboring Naples, Italy, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site where millions of tourists ferret out the ruins over centuries now. Exploring the traces of Pompeii will bring you back to the ancient Roman civilization. The old city has been buried in volcanic ashes from the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 A.D., and has been rediscovered in 1748 when explorers excavated the site and surprisingly found the structures intact. Pompeii has been preserved for centuries underneath the thick layer of volcanic ash with the absence of air and moisture. Archaeologists have found artifacts which vividly depicted the everyday life of people in the past.

Pompeii covers a huge land area for you to discover and learn about history and the details of the life in the ancient city. You will be fascinated with the decorations of their houses, the paintings and sculptures, and their way of life which I could not imagine to have existed during those period of ancient civilization. The old city was complex and well organized, with temples, theaters, an amphitheater, thermal baths, and even a place for pleasure.

This is a place to visit if you love to travel back in time where every stride is history unfolding and a story worth discovering.
